The Grit Classifier consists of a shaftless screw conveyor and a large sedimentation hopper including flanged inlet and outlet connections. 

Slurry flows through the hopper where the sediment settles to the base where it is carried out of the hopper by the shaftless screw. Degritted water at the top of the hopper then flows out the overflow effluent connection.
